- Research Analysis
Help patients find healthcare services that work with their insurance and budget.
Problem
The problem is that we have patients experiencing extreme debt and sent to collections for healthcare services that they were unable to pay. A healthcare provider will send a patient to have x-rays, labs, and other diagnostic tests not knowing and/or caring about the cost of treatment. Anyone who sees a healthcare provider, dentist, and/or pharmacy experiences the anxiety of how much it cost and how much out of pocket it will hurt your bottom-line.
Solution
With the more people choosing HDHP (high deductible health plan), those plans are creating a market for this application to help us be better consumers and know cost before having services rendered.
What I did
Design and user tested a prototype for an a mobile app that could be demoed to potential investors. Provide dev ready visual design files for future app construction.
Understanding
Problem Framing
If you want the best solutions start by asking the right questions.
How might we allow consumers to:
- Know prices of services prior to being serviced
- Access to individual health plan to know your personal out of pocket cost and total cost.
Next I took data from stakeholder interviews and competitive analysis to create a couple of simple personas that represented the user demographic and behaviors.
Activities
Followed up by creating task flows to outline the user journey through the app. Reviewed this process with stakeholders to refine and figure out any missing gaps before building out wireframes.
User Testing
Facilitation 1-On-1 Usability Testing
Far far away, behind the word mountains, far from the countries Vokalia and Consonantia, there live the blind texts. A small river named Duden flows by their place and supplies it with the necessary regelialia
1-on-1, in-person, 30 minute interviews. Participants were asked to: Explore the app prototype, and complete the tasks:
- Find a vein ablation provider, with the lowest out of pocket expense
- Look at a list of saved providers
- Edit profile
- Logout
Project Outcome
Investor Presentation
User testing and stakeholder meetings we held successfully and the prototype was very well received.
App In Development
The visual design files have been delivered and turned over to the development team ending my involvement with this phase of the project. Healthcare Dollar is now available now in the app store.
”I'm so excited. This looks so good! I can't thank you enough for all the work that you've done.
